Description
This United States Marine Corps Model 1917 service tunic is constructed from heavy forest green wool. The garment features a high stand-up mandarin-style collar and a five-button front closure. It is designed with four external pleated patch pockets, each featuring a pointed flap secured by a small button. All buttons are dark bronze-tone metal embossed with the USMC eagle, globe, and anchor motif surrounded by stars. The sleeves bear Sergeant rank chevrons consisting of three grey-green stripes on a red felt background with zig-zag stitching. The lower left sleeve features two slanted overseas service stripes in red and grey-green, signifying one year of service abroad. The interior is partially lined with a light olive-green cotton twill fabric. There are no visible manufacturer labels, contract stamps, or soldier identification marks. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
