Description
One United States Army field grade officer service cap manufactured by Morry Luxenberg Inc. of New York. The cap is constructed of Army Green 44 (AG-44) fur felt with a matching dark green mohair-style woven band. The visor is covered in black wool and features hand-embroidered gold bullion wire in an oak leaf and acorn motif, a pattern designated for field grade officers including the ranks of Major, Lieutenant Colonel, and Colonel. The front of the cap displays a gold-toned metal Great Seal of the United States officer’s eagle insignia. A gold bullion wire chin strap is secured by two small gold-toned buttons embossed with the United States Army coat of arms. The interior features a brown leather sweatband and a yellow satin lining under a clear plastic crown protector. The sweatband bears a printed maker’s mark reading Morry Luxenberg Inc., 45 East 30th St., New York 16, N.Y. and a manufacturer identification reading Morry Luxenberg Cap – Green Fur Felt AG-44, U.S. Army Uniform Quality Control Certificate #1-732-C. The crown lining displays the Morry Luxenberg triangle logo. The interior leather sweatband is hand-inscribed with the original owner’s identification: MAJ PIASECZNY 01331776.
