Description
This lot consists of two US Army Air Forces officer service caps and one aviation communications headset. The first service cap is a Land Flighter model manufactured by Bancroft. It is constructed from olive drab wool felt with a woven mohair braid band, a brown leather visor, and a matching brown leather chinstrap secured by two gold-toned buttons embossed with the US Army eagle. The front of the cap features a gold-toned officer cap badge depicting the Great Seal of the United States. The interior leather sweatband is gold-stamped LAND Flighter BY BANCROFT U.S. PAT. NO. 2369275. A silk-screened label in the crown reads FOR OVER FIFTY YEARS BANCROFT Military Caps MADE EXPRESSLY FOR DuBois. The second service cap is a Head-Master model, similar in construction with an olive drab wool body and brown leather elements. It includes a gold-toned officer cap badge. The interior sweatband is embossed HEAD-MASTER SELECTED LEATHER. The aviation communications headset is a model M-301 featuring dual black rubberized earcups and a double-banded leather headpiece. It includes a heavy-duty braided communication cord terminating in a standard PL-54 type plug. The exterior of the earcups is embossed M-301. The lot also includes one detached brown leather strap with a brass buckle. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
