This collection consists of thirteen pieces of United States military officer rank insignia from the World War II era, representing various ranks within the US Army and Army Air Forces. The group includes two colonel eagle insignia, two silver oak leaves for the rank of lieutenant colonel, one gold oak leaf for the rank of major, four captain double-bar devices with decorative corded or rope-patterned borders, and two gold bars for the rank of second lieutenant. Completing the set are two miniature gold-toned oak leaf pins, typically utilized for mess dress uniforms or as sweetheart jewelry. Several components are manufactured from sterling silver. Notable markings include the N.S. Meyer, Inc. New York hallmark within a shield logo on the reverse of the silver oak leaves, accompanied by a Sterling stamp. One colonel eagle is marked Sterling and bears a G-I hallmark, and multiple captain bars are also stamped Sterling. The items feature various attachment styles, including pin-back and clutch-back mechanisms. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
