Description
This collection of antique and vintage metal buttons features various motifs of cupids and angels. These items are buttons crafted from a variety of materials including brass, silver-tone metals, enamel, molded plastic, and copper-tone alloys. The designs exhibit Victorian and Art Nouveau influences, utilizing techniques such as intricate relief work, openwork, and inset accents like glass rhinestones and a stone noted as potentially lapis lazuli. One specific specimen is identified by a handwritten annotation as an Angel of Peace button, referencing the Big Book of Buttons (BBB, pl. 247, #20). The collection is mounted on a display board labeled CUPIDS & ANGELS with additional collector notes regarding construction and identification.
Board measures approximately 9 inches in width. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
