Description
This extensive collection of antique and vintage buttons is presented on several labeled collector cards, including categories such as Wood Div I and Wood Backgrounds. The buttons are constructed from various materials, primarily carved wood, with several specimens featuring metallic overlays and inlays in brass and silver-toned pewter. One specimen is identified as gutta-percha. The decorative designs are executed in high relief and include a wide range of pictorial, floral, and figural motifs. Notable designs include a kingfisher, architectural scenic views, mythical figures, and intricate botanical patterns. Several buttons bear handwritten notations or markings such as Paris BM and Depose. Construction techniques vary from solid carved forms to composite pieces with metallic rims or centers.
Measurements: Cards approximately 9 inches in width. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
