Description
This large 20th-century wooden utility chest is designed for the storage and transport of specialized technical equipment. The case is constructed with plywood panels for the lid and long sides, while the end panels are made of solid wood featuring robust finger-jointed corners. Simple wooden blocks are attached to each end to serve as handles, and the lid is secured with two surface-mounted metal hinges. The interior includes a matching wooden lift-out tray. The chest contains specialized tools, most notably a long wooden trammel bar fitted with two adjustable metal sliding gauges with pointed tips. Additional components include a long white-finished metal channel and various metal brackets and pointed attachments. There are no visible maker marks or labels on the exterior or interior of the chest.
