Description
A collection of handwoven maple wood splint baskets manufactured by Longaberger Baskets in Dresden, Ohio. The group includes several distinct forms, such as a footed magazine-style basket, rectangular utility baskets with fixed and swing handles, and a smaller bowl-shaped basket. Many baskets feature decorative stained weave accents in shades of forest green, red, and burgundy. The undersides of the baskets bear the burned-in manufacturer mark reading LONGABERGER BASKETS / HANDWOVEN / DRESDEN, OHIO USA or LONGABERGER / HANDWOVEN U.S.A. alongside various handwritten dates including 1992, 1993, 1996, 1998, and 1999. Handwritten weaver signatures or initials include NC, JVW, CEM, Emily, Jeff, and Linda. The lot includes several clear plastic protective liners and three new-in-packaging fabric accessories: two Tassel Tie-Evergreen Plaid (item 2124582) and one Large Harvest Blessings – Orchard Park Plaid liner (item 2523281). Also included is a circular wooden lid from the Longaberger Finishing Touches line featuring the engraved logo for the Longaberger Golf Club. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
Good vintage condition. The wood splints show minor surface wear, dust, and light oxidation consistent with age and typical household use. Plastic liners show light surface scratching. The fabric accessories remain in their original factory plastic packaging.
