Description
A collection of eight hand-painted ceramic figurines executed in the style of M.J. Hummel. The set features a variety of child figures engaged in seasonal and pastoral activities. The subjects include a boy with a garden hoe, a girl with a walking stick and a bird, a girl with a basket, a boy with a walking staff, a girl with a snow shovel, a boy building a brick wall, a boy with a snowball and a shovel, and a girl in a traditional winged cap playing a lute. Each figure is crafted from ceramic with a matte bisque finish and hand-painted polychrome details. The figures are set upon integral bases, some featuring naturalistic elements such as snow-dusted trees or fences. No manufacturer marks or signatures are visible on the exterior surfaces.
Height: 5 inches to 5.5 inches. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
The collection appears to be in good vintage condition. Fine age-related crazing is visible on the cream-colored bases of several figurines. There is minor surface dust and light shelf wear consistent with age. No chips, cracks, or visible repairs are noted from the provided images.
