Description
A six-section stacking barrister bookcase manufactured by the Globe-Wernicke Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio. This modular unit is designed in the Art-Mission style and features oak construction with a dark finish. The assembly includes a molded crown top, six individual glazed bookcase sections, and a base with four tapered legs. Each bookcase section is fitted with a glass-fronted door that uses a receding mechanism supported by internal metal scissor-style stabilizers. The doors are accessed via small square wooden knobs. Several original paper labels remain affixed to the interior back panels and the underside of the base. The base label specifies Pattern 347, Grade 517 1/2, A-C Single Art-Mission Leg Base. The individual bookcase sections are labeled Pattern 310, Grade 516 3/4, A-C SINGLE D-10 1/4. The top section is labeled Pattern 341, Grade 516 1/2, A-C Single Art-Mission Top. An inspection tag marked No. 22 is also present.
88.5 inches High x 340 inches wide x 11 inches deep. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
The piece shows visible wear consistent with age and use. There are scuffs, scratches, and minor finish loss, particularly along the front edges and the lower base. One square wooden door knob is missing, leaving an exposed mortise hole on the frame. The glass panels appear intact and free of cracks. The internal door mechanisms are functional, though one metal stabilizer is currently extended.
