Description

A large collection of vintage sports periodicals and programs, primarily comprised of Sport magazine issues spanning from the late 1960s through the early 1980s. The lot includes several issues of Sports Illustrated, as well as titles such as Steeler Pittsburgh and Football Special. Key cover subjects feature prominent figures across multiple sports, including Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Bobby Knight, Henry Aaron, Reggie Jackson, Carl Yastrzemski, Bobby Bonds, Ted Williams, O.J. Simpson, Gale Sayers, Fran Tarkenton, Tony Dorsett, Ken Stabler, Maurice Lucas, John Havlicek, Jerry West, Willis Reed, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (appearing as Lew Alcindor).

The collection also contains significant sports programs, notably the 2003 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Championship Program for Miami vs. Ohio State, the Super Bowl XVI Official Game Program from 1982, and a Super Bowl XXVI Official Game Program. The magazines are constructed with standard periodical stapled wraps. A significant number of the issues retain their original mailing labels, many of which are addressed to a subscriber in Youngstown, Ohio. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:

The magazines are in good vintage condition consistent with their age. Visible wear includes light to moderate tanning of the paper, edge fraying, and corner creasing. Some issues exhibit spine wear and small tears at the staple points. Original mailing labels are adhered to many front covers. The programs appear to be in very good to near-fine condition with minimal handling wear.
