Description
This Yamaha Natural Sound Stereo Amplifier, model AV-55, is a vintage audio component manufactured in Japan. The unit is designed for a home theater or multi-channel audio setup, featuring a 4-channel drive system and integrated Dolby Surround processing. The rear panel lists technical specifications as 120 volts, 420 watts, and 60 Hz. Connectivity options are extensive, including analog RCA inputs for Phono (with ground terminal), CD, Tuner, LaserDisc (LD), and Aux. It also features composite video and stereo audio inputs and outputs for VCR 1 and Tape 2/VCR 2, along with a Monitor Out. Speaker outputs consist of spring-clip terminals for one pair of Front speakers and one pair of Rear speakers, with a minimum impedance requirement of 8 ohms. Condition report:
The amplifier is in fair to poor cosmetic condition. The unit has been tested for power and the red indicator light illuminates when the power button is engaged. No further testing for audio output or functional performance has been conducted. The front faceplate shows significant surface residue, staining, and dust. One plastic knob for the Left Rear Level control is missing, leaving the potentiometer shaft exposed. The rear metal chassis and several assembly screws exhibit visible oxidation and corrosion. The top ventilation grille and overall exterior show heavy dust accumulation. This item is sold as is for parts or restoration.
