Description
A vintage R.E. Dietz Company Little Wizard model tubular hurricane lantern. The lantern is constructed from metal with a faded blue painted finish. The top vent cap and the fount base are embossed with DIETZ LITTLE WIZARD and N.Y. U.S.A. The fuel filler cap is also embossed with the DIETZ name. The metal collar below the chimney is stamped with the inscription PROPERTY OF E. D. GAS CO. indicating former use by a regional utility company. This lot includes two red glass globes. One globe is currently seated within the wire guard and features a yellow and red paper Dietz manufacturer label. The second globe is loose. The burner assembly and wire lifting mechanism are present.

Globe Height: 4 inches. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
The lantern is in vintage, aged condition. The blue paint shows significant wear, fading, and surface oxidation with visible rust throughout the body and base. The wire globe guard and bail handle show similar oxidation. Both red glass globes are structurally sound without large cracks; however, both exhibit typical minor roughness and small fleabite chips along the ground top and bottom rims. The lantern has not been tested for fuel capacity or functionality.
