Description

This vintage Burnham Electric Steam Radiator, Model W-9, is a portable heating unit produced by the Burnham Boiler Corporation of Irvington, New York. The object consists of a multi-finned cast-iron radiator body finished in green paint, supported by a metal base with four swivel casters for mobility. Attached to the side of the radiator is a black-finished metal electrical housing featuring a large, red faceted glass indicator lens and an integrated two-prong electrical power cord. Two identification plates are riveted to the unit. The first plate provides technical specifications including Model No. W-9, Serial No. D11597, 110 Volts, and 1250 Watts. The second plate identifies the manufacturer as the Burnham Boiler Corporation and displays a circular Underwriters Laboratories (UL) certification mark. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:

The unit shows significant signs of age and industrial use. There is prominent surface oxidation and corrosion on the mobile base and the swivel casters. The green paint on the cast-iron fins is chipped, flaked, and worn throughout. Heavy accumulation of dust and grime is present in the recessed areas of the radiator and housing. The electrical cord is aged and exhibits surface wear. This item has not been tested for mechanical or electrical functionality and is sold for decorative or restoration purposes.
