Description
This flat-top mandola, also known as a pancake or Army-Navy style instrument, was manufactured by The Flatiron Mandolin and Banjo Co. in Bozeman, Montana. The instrument features a solid spruce top with a natural gloss finish and highly figured birdseye maple back and sides. The mahogany neck includes a volute behind the nut and is topped with a rosewood headstock veneer featuring a mother-of-pearl cursive The Flatiron logo inlay. The ebony fretboard is accented with mother-of-pearl diamond and dot position markers. Hardware includes four-on-a-plate open-gear nickel tuners with pearloid buttons and a distinctive shell-shaped nickel-plated tailpiece. The bridge is a two-piece adjustable ebony design. Inside the soundhole, a circular white label identifies the instrument as Model No. 2MB Mandola with Serial No. 9312468. A secondary label provides recommended string gauges. This lot includes the original limited warranty card from the Flatiron Mandolin and Banjo Co. with a dealer sticker from Wildwood Music in Coshocton, Ohio, matching the model and serial number. Also included are a form-fitting black hardshell case with plush lining, a woven shoulder strap, and a blue celluloid pick.

Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
The mandola is in excellent overall condition. A small section of clear protective tape is present on the top near the fretboard extension. There is a minor horizontal finish check or surface scratch on the headstock veneer near the logo. The finish on the birdseye maple back and sides is well-preserved. The hardshell case shows minor external scuffing but is structurally sound with functioning latches.
