Description
Full-size violin by American luthier Bill Cunningham of West Lafayette, Ohio. The instrument features a two-piece back of highly flamed maple with a horizontal grain, with matching flamed maple ribs, neck, and scroll. The top is constructed of spruce with a medium grain. The fingerboard and tuning pegs are ebony. The instrument is fitted with a black synthetic chin rest and a tailpiece featuring a single fine tuner for the E-string. The interior back of the violin contains both a stamped mark on the wood and an applied paper label. The paper label reads Bill Cunningham, 21990 Pickwick St., West Lafayette Ohio and is hand-inscribed MADE #33. The wood stamp reads Bill Cunningham, 21990 Pickwick St., West Lafayette Ohio 43845 and is hand-incised below the stamp with #33. The lot includes two bows: one featuring an ebony frog with an iridescent abalone shell slide and a pearl eye, and one featuring a wood-grain frog with a white slide and pearl eye. Also included is a Mendini by Cecilio black soft-sided zippered case with a red velvet-lined interior. Accessories inside the case include three cakes of rosin, a metal comb-style mute, and a spare bridge part.

Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
The instrument shows signs of previous use with wear to the varnish, particularly around the edges of the bouts and on the back. Surface scratches, minor dings, and scuffs are present throughout. No major cracks are visible. The bridge is currently standing, though professional setup and adjustment may be required. One interior case strap is detached.
