Description
A hand-crafted miniature Christmas stocking ornament designed in a primitive folk art style. The item is constructed from two pieces of heavy, intentionally distressed and stained tan fabric joined with visible black whip-stitching around the perimeter. Two decorative patches are applied to the front. The upper patch features hand-stitched embroidery on a smaller piece of canvas-like material, bordered by green glass seed beads. The embroidery includes the vertically arranged letters A, B, and C on the left in orange, blue, and maroon floss; the vertically arranged numbers 1, 2, and 3 on the right in maroon floss; and the central phrase A little stocking just for me in black floss. The lower patch consists of the same stained fabric with a rectangular window displaying a black-and-white photographic portrait of a young child. A looped hanger of natural fiber twine is attached to the top corner. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
Excellent condition consistent with the intended aesthetic. The fabric displays heavy, uneven staining and fraying, which are deliberate design characteristics of the primitive folk art style. The beadwork, stitching, and photographic insert are all secure and intact. No post-production damage or significant wear is noted.
