Description

A vintage Roberts Model 450A solid-state reel-to-reel tape recorder and player manufactured by a division of Rheem Manufacturing Co. This unit features a three-head design and integrated solid-state circuitry. The front panel is constructed of brushed metal with black trim and includes dual analog VU meters, a mechanical transport lever for play, record, fast forward, rewind, and pause, and individual controls for record level, output level, and tape equalization with settings for 7 1/2 and 3 3/4. Connectivity features include two front-mounted 1/4 inch microphone inputs and a headphone jack. The recorder is housed in a wood-veneer cabinet. Included are two reels, one black Radio Shack branded reel and one clear Scotch branded reel. The rear of the unit features an identification plate which reads Rheem ROBERTS, A DIV. OF RHEEM MFG. CO., LOS ANGELES, CALIF. 90016, MODEL NO. 450A, MADE IN TOKYO, JAPAN (110), 120V. 40 WATTS 60 Hz, SERIAL NO. 7617-0488.

Height: 16.5 inches. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:

The unit is being sold as untested. It exhibits significant signs of age and long-term storage, including heavy dust, surface grime, and notable pitting and corrosion on the metal faceplate and various control knobs. The wood-veneer cabinet shows minor scratches, scuffs, and surface wear. The included magnetic tape is currently threaded but appears loose or broken. Power and audio cables are attached but show surface grime.
