Description
A collection of five vintage toy cars featuring a variety of manufacturers and construction styles from the 1950s. The group includes two Renwal No. 91 taxi cabs manufactured in the United States. One taxi is finished with a red roof and hood over a yellow body, while the other features an inverted yellow roof and hood over a red body. Both plastic taxis feature embossed TAXI lettering on the front doors and molded script on the hubcaps. The undersides are marked A RENWAL PRODUCT, NO. 91, and MADE IN U.S.A.
The lot also contains a tinplate friction drive 1955 Buick Roadmaster four-door sedan. This model is finished in pale green with a cream-colored roof and features chrome-toned tin bumpers, a front grill, and four characteristic ventiports on each front fender. The interior is open without window inserts, and the underside features a metal chassis with a rear-axle friction motor.
Two plastic 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air hardtop models are included, approximately 1/25 scale. One is finished in two-tone brown and cream, and the other is light blue and cream. Both feature detailed chassis assemblies with colored frames (red and black), painted engine blocks (blue and red), and silver-toned exhaust systems. The rear quarter panels bear the Bel Air script, and the hubcaps feature the Chevrolet logo. Each of the five cars is accompanied by a plain white or brown non-original cardboard storage box. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
The Renwal taxis are in good vintage condition with light surface wear and minor scuffing consistent with age. The tinplate Buick Roadmaster is in fair to good condition, showing significant surface oxidation and rust on the underside chassis; the body displays various paint scuffs and scratches, and a small orange price sticker is present on the bottom. The two Chevrolet models are in good overall condition; the brown car shows surface grime on the roof, and the blue car exhibits slight paint discoloration and aging. All mechanisms are untested.
