Description
A collection of three vintage mid-20th century advertising posters, or broadsides, used for the promotion of regional traveling Wild West shows and rodeos. Each poster is printed in black ink on paper and is mounted to a white cardstock backing under clear protective plastic wrap.
Item 1: Texas Ella Tent Show advertising poster. The layout features a large illustration of a circus tent on the left. The text promotes the Texas Ella Tent Show, featuring the Texas Kid, cowboys, cowgirls, a wild west show, and a famous bucking mule. Acts listed include trick and fancy roping, a cowboy and cowgirl string band, and black face comedians. Admission prices are listed as 15 cents for children and 25 cents for adults. The bottom right is marked Curtiss Shoprint, Continental, Ohio.
Item 2: Texas James and Bros. Wild West Tent Show advertising poster. This broadside includes multiple photographic halftone illustrations of various performers and acts. Featured personalities include Texas Slim riding a bucking steer, the Foster Sisters whip act, six-year-old Texas James as the smallest cowboy, the Texas Kid, and Red Head Willie the clown.
Item 3: Sun Bros. Rodeo Wild West and Hippodrome poster. This broadside specifically advertises a performance at the Jay County Fair in Portland, Indiana, on August 4-5. It contains photographic halftones of Anette Riddle, champion all-around cowgirl; Nomad, the lead dog of Blomberg’s Alaskan Huskies; the Comedy Dukes; high jumping horses; military ponies; and trained dog actors. The bottom right corner identifies the booking agent as The Gus Sun Booking Agency, Sun’s Regent Theatre Building, Springfield, Ohio.

Condition report:
The items are in good vintage condition. Each poster displays uniform light toning across the paper surface consistent with age. There is minor edge wear and occasional soft creasing, most notably along the top edge of the Sun Bros. poster. No significant tears, stains, or paper losses are visible. All items are securely mounted and wrapped.
