Description
This is a vacuum-formed plastic terrain base for the Operation Moon Base playset, manufactured by Louis Marx and Company. The piece depicts a lunar landscape characterized by multiple craters of varying sizes and a large raised central plateau. This plateau features two circular cutouts intended to support additional buildings or structures from the playset. The underside of the item shows a textured, mesh-like finish typical of thin-gauge vacuum-formed plastic from this era. A handwritten adhesive note identifies the piece as Marx Operation Moon Base Terrain vac u Form made. There is also a small yellow inventory label with the numbers A1262 and 0703. This item is offered as the terrain base only.
Width: Approximately 30 inches. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
The terrain base shows age-related wear and is in fair condition. The plastic material has become brittle over time, leading to several visible cracks and chips. Notable damage is present at the corners and along the vertical edges of the central plateau. A small puncture with a radiating crack is visible on the lunar surface. There is overall surface dust, minor staining, and age-related discoloration throughout the piece.
