Description
This lot features two examples of United States military Post Exchange (PX) ephemera dating from the mid-20th century.
The first item is a five-cent (5c) exchange ticket for the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California. The ticket is printed on light green paper with two red horizontal wavy decorative lines and the serial number 19515. It includes the cautionary text Not Good If Detached. The right margin contains the printer mark for the Globe Ticket Co. along with the code S / 260. This item is presented within a clear acrylic screw-down display frame.
The second item is an unused $2.00 Post Exchange coupon booklet from Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. The front cover bears the serial number No 5667 B and features an advertisement for Falls City Beer distributed by Klee & Coleman of Indianapolis. The booklet was printed by the Allison Coupon Co. of Indianapolis, Indiana. The interior pages are filled with illustrated advertisements for various products and services available at the PX, including Velvet Ice Cream, Sterling Beer, Royal Crown Cola, Nehi Sodas, Drewery’s Beer, Pepsi-Cola, Budweiser, Faust Beer, Wiedemann’s Royal Amber and Bohemian Style Beer, Golden Shell Oil, Avalon Cigarettes, Greyhound Bus, and Eastman Sunshine Cleaners. The cover includes a blank date line ending in 19__ and spaces for a signature and printed name. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Please carefully look at all photos (up to 100 in some cases on our in-house platform) to judge for yourself what you are buying. All sales are final. Our in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
