Description
A collection of World War II era United States military reference materials and personal effects. The lot includes a copy of The Officer’s Guide: A Ready Reference on Customs and Correct Procedures Which Pertain to Commissioned Officers of the Army of the United States, ninth edition, copyright 1943, published by The Military Service Publishing Company of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. This volume retains its original illustrated dust jacket. Also included is a 1942 Protestant version of The New Testament, published by the United States Government Printing Office. This pocket-sized book is named to David Armentrout of Davis, West Virginia, with next of kin Mrs. H.W. Armentrout. It contains a handwritten inscription on the flyleaf from Chaplain Coy Muckel, Transport, and features a printed facsimile letter from Franklin D. Roosevelt dated March 6, 1941. The collection further contains several color-printed informational plates detailing military honors and insignia. These plates include Army Service Ribbons for Decorations and Medals, Decorations, Medals, and Ribbons Authorized During World War II featuring the Legion of Merit, and Navy and Marine Corps gunnery and marksmanship badges. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Please carefully look at all photos (up to 100 in some cases on our in-house platform) to judge for yourself what you are buying. All sales are final. Our in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
