Description
A large-format vintage silver gelatin unit photograph depicting personnel of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War era. The Marines are arranged in a traditional tiered formation for a group portrait. Personnel are dressed in standard-issue utility uniforms, with those in the front and rear rows wearing M1 helmets with camouflage covers. Some Marines in the middle rows are wearing utility covers. Several Marines are pictured holding M14 rifles. A formal identification sign is positioned in the lower center of the composition, reading: UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS Y COMPANY 3rd BATTALION 2nd INFANTRY TRAINING REGIMENT CAMP PENDLETON CALIFORNIA MAY 1968. The text on the sign is flanked by the Marine Corps Eagle, Globe, and Anchor insignia. The photograph is housed in a simple wooden frame with a cardboard backing.
