Description
An assortment of mid-20th century United States military uniform items and accessories primarily from the World War II and Korean War eras. The lot features a United States Navy officer white combination cover with a gold bullion chin strap and cap device; the interior includes an identification card for Ensign K. J. Ford of the USS General R. E. Callan (AP-139) and an Academy Brand label. Also present is a Chief Petty Officer combination cover with a fouled anchor insignia, two dark blue wool enlisted flat hats with gold-embroidered U.S. Navy tallies, multiple white cotton hats, and a blue denim utility hat. Marine Corps components include a pair of dress blue wool trousers with scarlet stripes and several olive drab wool garrison caps. One garrison cap is identified to H. E. Lorensen and features a silver Second Lieutenant rank bar and a Joseph Danitz and Co. Los Angeles manufacturer mark. The collection includes three black wool shoulder boards with brass Marine Corps buttons, three olive drab service belts, and a red and green braided French Croix de Guerre fourragere. Supporting items consist of a brass boatswain’s pipe, assorted brass uniform buttons, dark blue wool knit trunks with contract number N140-62236s-39527B, and an olive drab cold weather parka hood with a fur ruff and wool lining. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
