Both pieces are constructed from heavy-weight olive drab wool. The service coat features a stand-up collar, a five-button front closure, and four exterior patch pockets with button-down flaps. The two breast pockets are pleated, and the two lower bellows pockets are unpleated. The coat is fitted with a complete set of darkened brass shank buttons embossed with the Great Seal of the United States. The interior is partially lined with a tan-colored cotton or sateen fabric. The matching wool breeches feature a button fly, belt loops, and lace-up calf closures with metal eyelets and cord laces. The interior waistband and pocket bags are lined with white cotton duck fabric.
