Description
This group of mid-20th century U.S. Navy officer uniforms belonged to a Lieutenant in the Naval Aviation branch. The collection includes a Service Dress Blue jacket, an Aviation Working Green jacket with matching trousers, and a heavy wool overcoat. The Service Dress Blue jacket is constructed of navy blue wool and features the rank of Lieutenant (O-3), denoted by two 1/2-inch gold lace stripes and a gold embroidered star on each sleeve. The interior includes a label from the Ship’s Service Store at Naval Air Station Norfolk, Virginia, featuring the naval aviation wings insignia, along with an embroidered monogram label consisting of the interlocked letters R and B. The Aviation Working Green uniform consists of a belted four-pocket service jacket and matching trousers made of green wool elastique fabric. The jacket sleeves display Lieutenant rank insignia in black mohair braid with a black embroidered star. A regulation woven label is present in the interior identifying it as a garment made under the authority of the U.S. Navy, marked with the number 82. The heavy grey wool overcoat is a double-breasted bridge-style coat featuring two rows of three buttons. The dark-toned metal buttons depict the standard U.S. Navy officer design of an eagle clutching a horizontal anchor surrounded by a ring of stars. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
