July Military Auction
Lot 25355:
Description
This lot consists of a pair of US Army field jackets manufactured during the Korean War era. Based on the interior specification labels, these are the M1951 pattern, which evolved from the earlier WWII-era M1943. The garments are constructed from wind-resistant olive drab cotton sateen and feature a button-front closure protected by a full-length storm flap. Design elements include four large front bellows pockets with pointed button-down flaps, shoulder epaulets, and adjustable button cuffs. The jackets are equipped with interior drawstrings at both the waist and the bottom hem for adjustment. Each jacket retains its original white specification labels located on the interior back. The labels identify the manufacturer as W. Shanhouse Sons, Inc. with contract number QM-16479 dated May 29, 1951. The specification is listed as Mil-J-10919 (QMC) with a pattern date of November 1, 1950. The inspector mark NYOMPA (New York Quartermaster Procurement Agency) is also visible.
