Description
These World War II era United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) Type B-1 flying trousers were produced by the H.L.B. Corp. of New York. Designed for use by aircrews in high-altitude, unpressurized aircraft, the trousers are constructed from heavy, dark brown sheepskin leather with the natural fleece on the interior for thermal insulation. The garment features a high-waisted bib-front design supported by adjustable shoulder straps made of black elastic and brown leather with metal buckles. A central Talon brand metal zipper facilitates closure. The lower legs are equipped with vertical metal zippers to allow the trousers to be put on or removed while wearing heavy flight boots. A rectangular black fabric identification label is sewn into the interior sheepskin lining with the following text: TYPE B-1, SIZE MEDIUM, SPEC. NO. 94-3085, ORDER NO. W 535 AC-177xx, H L B CORP N Y. Leather reinforcement patches are present at the strap attachment points and the crotch. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
