Description
A collection of United States military service garments dating from the mid-20th century, primarily the Vietnam War era. The lot includes apparel from the US Navy and one US Air Force overcoat.
US Navy Dress Blue Items:
One enlisted dress blue wool jumper featuring a Petty Officer Second Class Yeoman rate patch. The garment is modified with custom Liberty Cuffs inside the sleeves, featuring colorful embroidered dragon motifs in yellow, green, and red. The collar flap has three rows of white piping and rank stars. Included are matching wool dress blue trousers with a traditional 13-button front flap.
US Air Force Overcoat:
One blue wool velour overcoat with USAF Sergeant (E-4) sleeve insignia. The interior label identifies the garment as Overcoat, Man’s, Wool, Velour, 28 oz, Blue-85, manufactured by Country Gentlemen Clothes, Inc. under contract DSA-1-1483-63-I, dating production to 1963.
US Navy Utility and Work Apparel:
A pair of vintage Seafarer brand denim dungarees with bell-bottom legs. The waistband label identifies the material as 100 percent cotton Erwin fabric, and the metal buttons are embossed with seafarer dungaree. One blue short-sleeved utility shirt is stenciled with the name PICKENPAUGH and features a Petty Officer Second Class Yeoman rate patch. One white short-sleeved shirt by Creighton features a Petty Officer First Class Disbursing Clerk rate patch. Included are white cotton enlisted trousers stenciled with the name CERVANTEZ and service number RA 176 68 0429. The trouser label indicates manufacture by Choctaw Mfg. Co., Inc. under contract DSA100-73-C-1385, dating to 1973. Two white cotton Dixie Cup sailor hats are included, both hand-marked with the name PICKENPAUGH.
Chest measurement of jumper across front: 17.5 inches. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Please carefully look at all photos (up to 100 in some cases on our in-house platform) to judge for yourself what you are buying. All sales are final. Our in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
