Description
An original Cold War era national flag of the former Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam), dating from the Vietnam War period, approximately 1955 to 1975. The flag features the characteristic three horizontal red stripes centered on a yellow field. The yellow field historically represents the ancestral soil of Vietnam, while the three stripes symbolize the North, Central, and South regions of the country. This example is constructed from a heavy weight, coarse woven utility textile, consistent with period military grade materials. The flag is machine stitched with reinforced edges. Faint, illegible handwritten markings in ink or pencil are visible on the lower yellow field. This flag represents a significant historical artifact from the conflict in Southeast Asia, serving as the primary symbol of the South Vietnamese government and the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) until the fall of Saigon.
Dimensions: 27 inches x 42 inches. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos.
