Description
This lot consists of a collection of military history books and period ephemera focused primarily on elite units of the 20th century. Included is the spiral-bound reference work Emblems of Honor: Rangers Scrolls, Patches & Tabs from World War II & Korean War by Kurt and Bill Keller, which provides detailed photographic documentation of Ranger insignia. The memoir We Led The Way: Darby’s Rangers by William O. Darby and William H. Baumer is a hardcover edition with dust jacket published by Presidio Press in 1980. Also included is a 1999 hardcover edition of Black Hawk Down by Mark Bowden, published by Atlantic Monthly Press, which features black cloth binding and gold-leaf spine lettering; this copy lacks a dust jacket. A hardcover edition of T.E. Lawrence’s Seven Pillars of Wisdom: A Triumph is included with its dust jacket, noted as the complete 1922 text. The ephemera consists of a 1943 double-sided magazine advertisement. One side depicts U.S. Marine Raiders in tropical uniform for Chesterfield cigarettes with a copyright for Liggett & Myers Tobacco Co. The reverse features a patriotic advertisement for Three Feathers V.S.R. whiskey encouraging the purchase of war bonds. The advertisement is housed in a protective plastic sleeve.
Advertisement measurements: 10.5 inches x 14 inches. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
