Description
This lot features two military-themed metal sculptures. The first is a gold-toned cast metal depiction of the flag raising at Iwo Jima, based on the United States Marine Corps War Memorial. It includes five figures and a black pole supporting a small fabric American flag. The front of the rectangular base is incised with the text THE FLAG-RAISING ON IWO JIMA. The second piece is a silver-toned cast metal figurine of a modern United States infantryman in full gear holding an M16-style rifle. This figure is mounted on an oval wooden base with a finished top and green felt pads on the underside. Both items are confirmed as metal construction.
Iwo Jima base: approximately 8 inches in length
Infantryman height: approximately 7.5 inches. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Please carefully look at all photos (up to 100 in some cases on our in-house platform) to judge for yourself what you are buying. All sales are final. Our in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
