Description
This collection features United States Marine Corps officer-grade insignia and a personalized identification tag from the World War II era. The items are presented in a red cardboard display box with a flocked interior, which bears the shield logo and name of manufacturer N.S. Meyer, Inc., New York, on the underside. The insignia includes one large Eagle, Globe, and Anchor hat insignia and two smaller matching collar insignias, all featuring the period-appropriate droop-wing eagle design with a darkened bronze finish. Also included are four bursting bomb insignias denoting the rank of Marine Gunner (Warrant Officer), consisting of two larger and two smaller pairs likely intended for service and dress uniforms. The single oval USMC identification tag is attached to a chain and is stamped with the following information: CHARLES RHODES HALVERSTADT, MAR. GUN., T 8/41 A, USMC P. The stamping identifies the recipient’s rank as Marine Gunner, a tetanus immunization date of August 1941, blood type A, and a Protestant religious preference. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Please carefully look at all photos (up to 100 in some cases on our in-house platform) to judge for yourself what you are buying. All sales are final. Our in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
