Description
This group of six embroidered military insignia consists of two First Sergeant rank stripes and four divisional shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI). The rank insignia represent the grade of First Sergeant (E-8), featuring three chevrons and three rockers with a central diamond lozenge embroidered in olive drab thread on a tan khaki cotton twill background. This specific style was historically worn on the summer service khaki uniform. The divisional SSI include the 37th Infantry Division (Buckeye Division), characterized by a red octagon with a yellow circular center; the 7th Infantry Division (Bayonet Division), featuring a red field with a black hourglass; the 25th Infantry Division (Tropic Lightning), shaped as a red taro leaf with a yellow lightning bolt; and the 24th Infantry Division (Victory Division), displaying a green taro leaf on a red field with a black border. These items are typical of the manufacturing styles used during the World War II and Korean War periods.
