Description
A collection of nine US Army qualification and combat badges from the WWII era, primarily struck in sterling silver. The group features three first award Combat Infantryman Badges, each presenting a silver musket on a blue enamel field atop an oak leaf wreath. The reverse of these badges includes one pin-back version marked STERLING and two clutch-back versions with STERLING stamps. The set also includes two Expert Marksmanship qualification badges consisting of silver wreaths with crossed rifles. One badge has a RIFLE EXPERT bar and a Crest-Craft hallmark (S in a square) on the reverse, while the other features an EXPERT RIFLEMAN bar with a Vanguard hallmark (star over STERLING). Four Marksman qualification badges in the Maltese cross pattern are present, featuring a variety of pendant bars for Rifle, Carbine, Machine Gun, and Auto Rifle. Identification marks on the reverse of these badges include STERLING, the N.S. Meyer Inc. New York shield hallmarks, and one component bar marked 1/20 10K G.F. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
