Description
A World War II era United States Navy or Marine Corps Naval Aviator insignia badge manufactured by Vanguard, New York. The gold-colored metal pin features the traditional design of outstretched feathered wings with a central US shield superimposed over a single fouled anchor. This specimen features an integrated small suspension loop or eyelet at the top of the anchor ring, commonly indicating use as a sweetheart pendant or suspension piece. The reverse is fitted with a horizontal pin-back fastener featuring a rotating safety lock clasp. The back of the central shield is clearly stamped with the maker mark Vanguard, N.Y. in raised lettering.
