Description
This lot contains two United States military bayonet items from the mid-20th century, specifically the Vietnam War era. The first item is a complete US M7 bayonet, which was designed for use with the M16 rifle series. It features a parkerized steel spear-point blade and black checkered plastic grip scales secured by two screws. The crossguard is stamped U.S. M7. This bayonet is paired with a US M8A1 scabbard consisting of a green molded plastic body with a metal throat. The throat is stamped U.S. M8A1 over the manufacturer code WD. It includes an olive drab canvas belt hanger with an M1910 wire hook and a snap-fastener retaining strap. The second item is a stripped steel blade and tang blank for a US bayonet, missing its crossguard and handle components. It is housed in a second US M8A1 scabbard. The metal throat of this scabbard is stamped U.S. M8A1 over the manufacturer code PWH. The canvas hanger on this scabbard is severely damaged and partially missing.
