Description
A pair of long firearm sleeves, also known as gun socks, fashioned from vintage Hudson’s Bay Point Blankets. Both items are constructed from 100% wool and feature tapered silhouettes with black whip-stitched seams. The first sleeve is crafted from a traditional white blanket and displays horizontal stripes in blue, yellow, and red, finished with a fringed muzzle end. The second sleeve is made from a red blanket and features a wide black band and four thin black point marks. This sleeve retains an original white woven label with gold embroidery. The label includes a central coat of arms and the text: Hudson’s Bay Point Blanket, Couverture a marques de la Compagnie de la Baie d’Hudson, The Seal of Quality, Le sceau de qualite, 100% WOOL / LAINE, Made in England / Fait en Angleterre, CANADA REG’D NO. 19579, U.S. REG. NO. 220747, CA 00254. These sleeves are representative of equipment used in North American fur trade reenactment and traditional hunting circles.
Length: Approximately 7 feet each. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Please carefully look at all photos (up to 100 in some cases on our in-house platform) to judge for yourself what you are buying. All sales are final. Our in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
