A trio of silver bullion coins issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2017 as part of their wildlife series. Each coin is struck from 1.5 troy ounces of .9999 fine silver with a legal tender face value of 8 dollars. The reverse features a profile of a roaring grizzly bear standing on a rocky outcrop, designed by Pierre Leduc. Inscriptions on the reverse include CANADA 2017, FINE SILVER 1 1/2 OZ ARGENT PUR, and the purity 9999, alongside a micro-engraved maple leaf security mark and the artist initials PL. The obverse depicts the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt against a background of radial lines, with inscriptions ELIZABETH II, 8 DOLLARS, and D G REGINA. Each coin is housed in a clear protective plastic capsule with a white foam gasket.
