This 2017 silver bullion coin was produced by the Royal Canadian Mint and contains 1.5 troy ounces of .9999 fine silver. The obverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II with the inscribed text ELIZABETH II, D. G. REGINA, and the face value 8 DOLLARS. The reverse depicts a grizzly bear on a rocky outcropping, with the inscriptions CANADA 2017, FINE SILVER 1 1/2 OZ ARGENT PUR, and a purity of 9999. A small micro-engraved maple leaf security mark and the initials PL are also visible on the reverse. Both faces of the coin feature a background of radial lines as a security measure.
