Description
This collection of decorative buttons features a variety of marine and sea life motifs, including fish, shrimp, lobsters, seahorses, starfish, and octopuses. The items are constructed from a diverse range of materials such as cast metal in silver, brass, and copper tones, as well as molded plastic, resin, glass, ceramic, and carved organic materials including bone or antler. Notable pieces include a large rectangular ceramic button inscribed ITS A GOOD YEAR, a circular white button featuring black line art of two fish signed P. Coy 81, and various carved green fish-shaped buttons. Several buttons are mounted on a purple display card which includes handwritten labels such as JADE, SHRIMP, and FISH & SEALIFE. The collection includes examples of both vintage and contemporary styles, with techniques including casting, carving, and hand-painting.
