Description
An assortment of antique and vintage buttons featuring a theme of mythical and fantastic animals. The collection includes various depictions of dragons, griffins, and other legendary beasts. Materials identified by handwritten notations on the mounting board include horn, aluminum, and enamel on silvered brass. The group showcases a variety of construction techniques such as openwork filigree, molded metal, enameled surfaces, and carved substances. Notable pieces include a large openwork brass-tone button with a winged creature, a circular button with a dragon in an ouroboros-style pose, and several enameled buttons with multi-color dragon motifs. The buttons are presented mounted on a perforated cream-colored display board.
The display board measures approximately 9 inches in width. Individual buttons range in size from approximately 0.5 inches to 2.5 inches in diameter. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
