Description
This collection of buttons features an assortment of human and mythological heads and profiles. The items are constructed from various materials including brass, silver-tone and pewter-tone metals, glass, early plastics such as celluloid or Bakelite, wood, and enamel-like details. The subjects represented include classical Greek and Roman profiles, traditional cameos, and historical figures. Notable inscriptions found on the pieces include ROMA, NAPOLEON EMPEREUR, ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA F.D., and LOUIS IX. Stylized depictions such as a Native American chief and a flapper girl are also present. The buttons are mounted on two display cards labeled Heads Assorted Age and Heads Modern. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
