Description

These items are buttons centered on the theme of human and historical heads, presented across three display boards. This collection of antique and vintage specimens features a diverse range of materials including stamped and tinted brass, non-ferrous white metal, painted and intaglio glass, laser-cut plastic, ceramic, and plaster of Paris. Notable items include a brass button depicting Sarah Bernhardt in the role of L’Aiglon and a lithograph button with a thread back dated circa 1846. The collection also includes a profile of Queen Elizabeth II and various classical and theatrical figures. Construction methods include stamped brass with cut steels, cast pot metal, and glass in metal with pad or snap-together backings. Several pieces are accompanied by descriptive labels identifying specific figures or manufacturing techniques. One board features the handwritten notation Pooters Camp 8/98 in the margin.

Individual boards are approximately 11 to 12 inches in width. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
