Description
This lot consists of an assorted group of antique and vintage specimens, confirming these items are buttons curated for the collectors market. The collection is unified by a barrel theme and includes buttons constructed from brass, acrylic, celluloid, pewter, wood, shell, bone, ceramic, glass, and phenolic resin, specifically British Butterscotch Bakelite. The assembly features both three-dimensional barrel-shaped buttons and flat pictorial types, including a depiction of Tom Sawyer whitewashing a fence and figures engaged in coopering. Several items bear specific labels such as Pewter verbal Battersea BMK, BMK Garrison Products, and Casein Paint DF. This collection was the first-prize winner at the 2019 Buckeye State Button Society competition and is accompanied by the official award ribbon and entry documentation.
