Description
This collection consists of an assortment of black glass buttons dating to the 19th century, organized on several display cards. The group includes examples categorized as Division I and III, featuring both matte-finish High Mourning styles and complex mechanical make-up constructions. The High Mourning buttons display molded floral, foliate, and geometric motifs with characteristic non-reflective surfaces. The mechanical make-up buttons showcase intricate technical assembly, including pierced two-piece designs, faceted glass components, and riveted escutcheons. The assortment encompasses a variety of textures such as beaded, berry, and lacy patterns. Several cards contain handwritten cataloging notes regarding the specific construction and classification of the pieces.
Approximate card height: 10 inches Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
