Description
This collection of buttons is primarily composed of black glass, featuring various 19th and early 20th-century manufacturing techniques. The assortment is organized across four labeled display cards: Big Beautiful Black Glass, Enamel and Monochrome (Fired) Polychrome on Black Glass, Frames & Fabric in Black Glass, and Glass w/ Inlay. The buttons exhibit a range of decorative treatments including molded relief designs, cameos, faceted surfaces, and hand-painted polychrome enamel work depicting floral and faunal motifs. Additional technical elements include gold and silver luster finishes, acid-etched patterns, and inlays of shell or metal. Several buttons are identified by handwritten notes on the mounting cards, referencing specific styles such as salt glazed, luster, and mirrored finishes. The construction includes various shank types and geometric forms.
Display cards: Approximately 9 inches in width Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
