Description
A late 19th-century Seth Thomas Adamantine mantel clock featuring a polished wood case with a reddish-brown finish. The architectural case is accented by four green marbled faux-malachite columns with gilt metal capitals and bases. The clock face consists of a cream-colored dial with black Arabic numerals, an embossed gilt center, and a decorative bezel, marked Seth Thomas and Manufactured in the United States of America. The case is supported by four scrolled gilt metal feet and features etched scrollwork on the front panel. The reverse includes a mechanical movement with an internal bell chime, visible through a circular aperture with a stamped ST trademark metal cover. A partial original paper instruction label remains on the reverse, citing a patent date of September 7, 1880, and label number 295.
