Description
This 19th-century tintype photograph features a formal studio portrait of a man and a woman positioned before a painted scenic backdrop. The male subject is depicted in Masonic regalia, including an embroidered white apron featuring the square and compasses and twin pillars, complemented by a diagonally draped sash. The female subject is seated, wearing a dark, layered Victorian-style dress. The image includes hand-tinted accents, with pink on the subjects’ cheeks and light blue on the man’s sash. The photograph is produced on a japanned iron plate.
